If you've read these blog posts in chronological order of my story up until this point, you'll have read: My Childhood; A Young Man; A Fifth & A Flannel; and Becoming The Change (Police).
If you're just tuning in... then at this point I've graduated college, sold everything I owned, backpacked across the country playing music on the street, became a New Orleans Police Officer, had a very successful but heart-wrenching career that led to self-destruction and I'm now about to walk away from my job in the prime of my career as a decorated Detective assigned to the S.W.A.T. Team.
That Friday night, when my now ex-fiancé came home, I immediately told her to sit down and asked her if she wanted to move to Buffalo, NY.
Little did I know, her bags were already packed in her mind.
A week later, I walked into my Commander's office incredibly nervous at how much I was disappointing him and handed him my resignation letter.
My plan was to move to New York and work for a department there.
That same week I sold everything we owned, packed up the car and put New Orleans in the rearview mirror.
BUT the night before we left, we had a big going away party at Bayou Beer Garden and it was the most bitter sweet moment of my life.
And by the end of the night, there were probably just as many drops of alcohol consumed as there were tears shed.
Once we arrived in Buffalo, I immediately opened my laptop and began writing. What started off as me trying to process and document my experience for the book that I've been writing since 2011...
Quickly... turned into a blog that I launched just a few weeks later called... A Gypsy With A Gun.
With over 20,000 readers in 3 weeks, I landed a gig writing for a law enforcement magazine.
The launch of that blog was the catalyst for my research of how to make money online.
For weeks, I had this feeling like something really good was about to happen but I couldn't explain why I felt that way.
One day, I came across a "make money from anywhere" webinar and at the end took out my credit card and paid $99 for access to a community of entrepreneurs from all over the world.
That community and training was one big funnel to a $10,000 upsell to start my first online business.
The next day I took out my supplemental retirement plan and went all in without much thought. Just following my intuition.
The day after that, I came across a guy in the training curriculum named Joey Dentici who was a Police Officer in New York.
I sent him what seemed to be an insignificant cold message on Instagram not know he would later become my best friend, business partner and brother.
I then took the rest of my money and bought a one-way ticket to London to meet him in person at the community's event he was speaking at.
Over the course of the next 12 months, I would proceed to take out my 401K, sell all my stocks, crypto, and all of my valuables doing everything I could to invest in building the necessary skills, and get into the right rooms with the right people quickly working my way into the leadership circle within the company.
During that time the Gypsy With A Gun blog fell to the bottom of my priority list.
That year, I traveled to 14 different countries while building my business and what would become the most important relationships in my life.
After 3 months of living in Barcelona with Joey and the rest of the leadership team...
Joey pitched us on a paradise full of beautiful women and a community of high level entrepreneurs called Scottsdale, AZ.
In the first week of January 2020, we drove across country and moved to "The Dale" without ever being there before.
Just a month in, the founders of the company we were working with to build out business decided to close shop.
The 5 of us then spent 72 hours at a whiteboard conceptualizing, building and launching an entirely new business named Conversions.
Although this was in the midst of the plandemic, we were able to generate a quarter of a million dollars in the first 6 months.
But with 5 chef's in the kitchen (silly idea), by the end of the first year the other 3 guys wanted out and left Joey and I with 70+ clients, a bunch of debt and no idea how to run several parts of the business.
We are still great friends and it happened FOR us but the next year consisted of a LOT of growth and a LOT of mistakes.
